Weddings

back

Recently I talked to you all about vow renewals and today I want to dive into another “untraditional” wedding topic that many couples opt for; elopements! I love elopements. Don’t get me wrong, there is magic in every wedding I photograph, whether it’s just 2 people and their witnesses or a ballroom filled with 300 guests. When you elope though, there is a different energy that you feel around you. If you have even thought about eloping, this is the perfect blog for you because I am sharing my top 5 reasons to elope.

1. Elopements are Simple

Does the idea of picking out linens, china, and touring venues make you feel queasy? Then an elopement might be right up your ally! One of the best things about an eloping is that the planning is relatively simple compared to a traditional wedding. It can be as simple as picking a park you both love, contacting a photographer, and deciding on outfits! You can skip Save the Dates, renting silverware, and picking out a dinner menu and simply decide to elope!

2. Elopements focus on you and your partner

This goes hand and hand with the first reason. You can keep your elopement simple and focus solely on the two of you. There is so much joy on a wedding day but there can also be a lot of family situations to juggle and people to entertain. As cliche as it sounds, it is so true that your wedding day flies by. Why not enjoy every single second of your day together with just the two of you (or with a few close friends or family members)?

3. Once in a lifetime

Your wedding day is a day that only comes around once in a lifetime. You should have it be exactly as you envision it. It can be a lot of pressure to have outside opinions on how you should get married. Even picking a date can be stressful when trying to work with friends and family schedules! It can be easier said than done, but you truly should do whatever you and your partner want when it comes to your wedding day. This is one of the few times in life that I think it is actually encouraged to be selfish!

4. Adventure Elopements

Eloping can be simple and easy like deciding you both want to get married in your local park! However, it can also be as big of an adventure as you’d like. Have you always secretly dreamed of starting your happily ever after under a waterfall in Iceland? You can do that when you elope. Do you want to travel to your favorite National Park and hike to your ceremony location? Yup, you can do that too. Getting married is an adventure in itself but you can add an extra layer with the location you decide on.

5. Elopement + Honeymoon

Speaking of adventure, you can combine your elopement with your honeymoon! If you do decide to travel, you can make your honeymoon location as the place you elope, as well. You don’t have to go far away either. You could head to Key West and spend a week on the island or go far and go across the ocean to Ireland! As with anything wedding related, there is no right or wrong answer. It’s such a great feeling to say “I Do” and then stay in your own little bubble for a bit before you head back to the real world!

These are just a few of my top reasons to consider eloping! At the end of the day, whether it’s an elopement or traditional wedding, you and your partner should be celebrating your new adventure exactly as you want to. It’s my job to help you decide which option is best for you and I’m here to help all my couples in any way I can. Contact me to discuss if eloping is right for you today!
